HealthSouth Toms River to Undergo Multi-Year Construction and Renovation
HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Toms River will undergo multi-year construction and renovation at its current location of 14 Hospital Drive. The project will occur in four phases and add 48,000 square feet of new construction to the physical inpatient rehabilitation hospital, which is licensed for 98 patient beds. The project is expected to be complete in 2019.
“It has been an honor to play an integral role in helping our patients return to this community for more than 20 years,” said Patty Ostaszewski, CEO of HealthSouth Toms River. “We are excited about the improvements as they will make the building more efficient for our patients and staff for many years to come. Patients receiving care during this period of time can expect the same high level of care that we already provide as their care is – and will always be - our top priority.”
The inpatient rehabilitation hospital provides comprehensive, post-acute rehabilitation services for patients overcoming a variety of illnesses and injuries including stroke and other neurological disorders, brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, hip fracture and complex orthopedic conditions. Patients receive 15 hours of physical therapy, occupational therapy and/or speech-language therapy each week and have an average length of stay of 13.5 days when served at HealthSouth Toms River.
The hospital will not close during the time of construction and operations will continue as normal.
